2004 Jason and Sam meet on the docks. Jason tries to pay Sam off to leave town. (Credit NickyM96 of Trusted Hearts) Sam talking to Michael about Lorenzo and reassuring him that Sonny will take care of him and Morgan. Sonny comes in and wants to know what is going on. Jason talks to Michael about sneaking onto Sam's boat. Sonny asks Jason to take Sam home. Jason and Sam leave. Sam asks if he thinks she should have stayed out of it. Jason asks if she wants what is best for Michael & Morgan. She says yes and Jason says "So do I". (Credit NickyM96 of Trusted Hearts) Sam shows up at Sonny's with a stab wound, Sonny calls Jason. Later Jason takes Sam to his Penthouse for protection while Sonny has a meeting. Sonny thinks Sam should stay at Jason's but she wants to stay with Sonny. She tells Jason that she is falling in love with Sonny and isn't going anywhere. Jason tells her that Sonny and Carly still love each other. Sam is determined to give the baby up. Jason calls Sonny to come to South America. Sam begs Jason to tell Sonny she escaped through the window so she can give the baby up. Sam is starting to blame herself if anything happens to the baby but Jason tells her not to even say it. Jax is pushing for the paternity test but Sonny tells him to back off. Dr. Meadows says Sam is fine but the paternity test will have to wait a while. She also says that Sam can leave but not alone, she needs someone to stay with her. Sonny and Jax start trying to take over. Jason says she could stay with him. She accepts and they leave together. Jason takes Sam home. She forgets her bag and Jason goes to get it. Carly comes out and goes on the attack. Jason comes and stops Carly who snaps at Jason. Carly accuses Jason of turning against her for Sam. Jason tells Sam to be more considerate of Sonny's family. Sam decides to take the paternity test immediately. Jason takes her to the hospital. Jason says Carly will take the kids and leave Sonny if the baby is his. He asks Sam to let him take care of her and the baby and to leave Sonny's family intact. Carly comes in and starts to freak on Sam but Jason tells her to stop and she leaves. Jason tries to convince Sam to go along with the story and promises to love the baby if she will. Jason and Sam concoct a cover story in case they decide to go forward the the lie. Jason tells Sam about being married to Brenda. Jason explains that he married Brenda to keep Michael's world stable and that is what he is doing with Sam. He also says he is willing to be the father that Sonny can't be. Sam does not trust herself not to try to destroy Sonny's marriage. She is still determined to leave town and give the baby up. Jason feels responsible for the loss of the baby and wants to take care of her. It becomes clear that Jason does care what happens to Sam. They get stranded in an empty bar by a storm. Jason is worried about Sam's emotional state. Sam wants Jason to go home and tell Sonny to leave her alone now that the baby is gone. Sam realizes Jason is devastated by the loss of the baby. Sam says she is glad that Jason is with her. The baby is fine but Sam needs a surgery in order to be able to carry the baby to term. The doctor recommends that she see her doctor about the procedure. Jason wants to take Sam back to Port Charles. He doesn't think she can give the baby up for adoption after the fear of losing it and seeing it on the monitor. Nico is watching them. The doctors take Sam in the back for the procedure. Sam is upset because Sonny and Carly are missing. Sonny calls from South America where he has been shot. Sam talks about her parents and says when she found her mother she was dead. Sonny comes in with the crib. She tells him that he is an amazing friend and will be good for the baby but they could never be more and it is a relief not to have to worry about love. He agrees with her but it is clear that neither of them feel that way. Sam fantasizes that she and Jason are a couple. Hairsweep. Later, Sam asks Jason not to make her deal with Sonny alone again. She impresses Jason when he sees that she did all of his paperwork. Jason comes in and he and Sonny get into it, Jason tells Sonny to start putting the baby first. While Jason and Sonny argue, Sam packs up and leaves because she doesn't want to come between Jason and Sonny. Jason tracks Sam down to Kelly's and tells her she can still stay with him or he will do whatever she needs to help her. Sam decides to return with him.
